Why lower the car?
Lowering the centre of gravity of the car prevents body roll when cornering, allowing the driver to take the car into the corner faster, without losing as much traction due to body roll, compared to "standard" height.
Advantage is being able to take a corner faster in the dry season, in the wet however, it becomes a lot trickier to pull out of a spin once the back end swings out, due to RWD, lower center of gravity (holding the car closer to the road).
What springs / dampers are available?
Tein offer a spring kit, and a" full" lowering kit, which includes a set of lowering springs and struts, which can be set to different levels, from soft to hard.
I have RS-R lowering springs (42mm front, 40mm rear) with standard McPhearson struts, although many people use coilovers (money does come in to it, and im on a very tight budget!) |
