JP Auto Biography

My interest in cars began in 1998 when I purchased my Nissan Micra K11, 1.3LX
I had enough of garages taking me for a ride, so did a lot of research from Haynes manuals for the vehicle itself, and I.C.E. Manual to inspect, diagnose and repair or rectify all sorts of problems, and of course servicing.

At the time it was a hobby, now its a way of life.

In 2002 I had the opportunity to start a career in the motor trade, and gain City & Guilds Qualifications in the process. And thus started a "job" at VolksSpeed, Ashtead.
Due to not a lot of work coming in, I ended up being first out the door.

G.P. Motors of Epsom was where I began my apprenticeship officially, with one day release for college. Unfortunately most of the work I carried out was sitting in M.O.T's and time passes by quickly.
In March 2003 I attended an interview to continue my apprenticeship at Motormaster Services and Repairs,Leatherhead and got the position.
I am really glad to have completed my apprenticeship there, I worked on a large range of vehicles from passenger cars to 7 1/2 tonne Mercedes Sprinter's.

In 2005 I took the City & Guilds Exams, and passed with 2 Distinctions and 2 Passes. On the day of taking the test I had a migrane, had it not been for that I believe I could of done a lot better.
At the end of October 2005 I left Motormaster to take some time out to concentrate on my car at the time.

It wasnt until 2007 I was informed that the portfolio had some itmes missing from it, which meant I had to re do the work.
Thanks to a friend, I attended an interview at STS Stapletons in Aylesbury, although the job is more toward the tyres, exhausts, brakes and servicing.
STS Stapletons then changed to Tyre Pros.

My portfolio was then submitted to City & Guilds and I received my Level 2 NVQ - Semi skilled mechanic. Later in 2008 I did some more work to get the level 3 C&G NVQ, making me a fully qualified mechanic.

In an ideal world, id have enough cash to start up my own business, but the country has its own problems with the credit crunch for me to consider it. But perhaps somewhere at some time, il have my own succesful business.
