Apexi Power FC Installation
Apexi Power FC Installation Guide

So youve decided to go for an Apexi Power FC with Hand Commander, and want to know how to set it up.

I did a lot of research into this, and thank Paul33 from SkylinesAustralia for his guide and FAQ pages.

Tools Required:
  • x1 Phillps screw driver
  • x1 10mm 3/8 shallow socket
  • x1 10mm 3/8 deep socket
  • x1 6" 3/8 drive extension bar
  • x1 3/8 ratchet
  • Double sided sticky pad roll & scissors

Step 1.
Disconnect Battery Negative cable & depress brake pedal for a few seconds

Step 2.
Undo the 10mm plastic threaded nut from the passenger side kick panel. Follow the trim toward the bulkhead for location
Now prise the panel outward - there are x2 spring push clips nearest to the door.

Step 3.
Undo the 10mm bolt located at the center of the ECU wiring loom plug. Gently remove the loom plug from the ECU socket, and move over to one side.

Step 4.
Undo the 10mm nut located at the top of the ECU holding bracket, and the  10mm screw/bolt at the bottom of the bracket (goes into chassis), gently prising out toward the centre console and toward you at the same time - its tricky.

Step 5.
Remove the brackets from the top and bottom of the OEM ECU.
Keep OEM ECU in a safe place, the box which the Apexi ECU comes in is ideal.

Step 6.
Using the roll of double sided sticky tape, measure along the top & bottom how much you need, cut as appropriate. You may need to put several layers out to pack out the gap between the brackets and ECU to prevent vibrations to the unit.
Once you are happy with the fitment,  plug in the ECU loom and tighen the bolt by hand to start with, then final tighten with ratchet - a simple nip will suffice

Step 7.
Align all the ECU harness locating bolts (top and at the back of the footwell), and fasten bolts in order you took them off.
Refit pasenger kick panel / trim

Step 8.
Connect the battery Negative / Earth Cable

Step 9.
Put tools away, put kettle on

Step 10.
Make Tea, Coffee & smoke break (for smokers)
